Basic Human Needs

  • BOURBON COUNTY INTER-AGENCY COALITION, INC. WILL SUPPORT RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE SO FAMILIES CAN STAY IN THEIR HOMES AND AFFORDABLE FAMILY SWIM PASSES.  
  • CATHOLIC CHARITIES, INC. WILL PROVIDE ONE-TIME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN AT RISK OF EVICTION OR CUT-OFF OF ESSENTIAL HOME UTILITIES THAT WILL PREVENT IMMINENT HOMELESSNESS OF THE FAMILY.  
  • CLASS LTD PLANS TO ASSIST RESIDENTS OF CK, CR, AND LB COUNTIES WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES WHO HAVE EMERGENCY FOOD, SHELTER OR CLOTHING NEEDS.  
  • EASTERN KANSAS ADULT EDUCATION RECEIVED GED TESTING SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE.
  • FAMILIES & CHILDREN TOGETHER, INC. WILL HOLD A COUNTY WIDE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY ON OCTOBER 21, 2018.
  • FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, WESLEY HOUSE WILL PROVIDE DENTAL HEALTH CARE TO UNDERSERVED EMPLOYMENT AGE CLIENTS IN PITTSBURG.
  • KANSAS CHILDREN’S SERVICE LEAGUE WILL PROVIDE PERIOD OF PURPLE CRYING SHAKEN BABY PREVENTION MATERIALS TO PARENTS OF BABIES BORN IN SEK.
  • K-STATE RESEARCH & EXTENSION WILL HOLD AN AGING WITH ATTITUDE REGIONAL EXPO IN FT. SCOTT IN APRIL 2019.
  • LABETTE COUNTY EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CENTER PROVIDES EMERGENCY BASIC HUMAN SERVICE NEEDS TO LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN FINANCIAL CRISIS TO PREVENT UTILITY DISCONNECTION AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE.
  • LABETTE HEALTH FOUNDATION WILL EQUIP THEIR BIRTHING FACILITIES WITH NEWBORN HEARING SCREENING EQUIPMENT.  
  • MERCY HOSPITAL FORT SCOTT WILL BE PURCHASING A SPECIAL CHAIR DESIGNED FOR ADVANCE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE PATIENTS.  
  • MOUNT CARMEL FOUNDATION PLANS TO PURCHASE NEW STRETCHERS FOR SURGERY PATIENTS.  
  • NEXT STEPS INC. WILL ASSIST THOSE LIVING IN POVERTY WITH DENTAL AND EYE CARE FOR EMPLOYABILITY.
  • SAFE HAVEN OUTREACH MISSION WILL SUPPLEMENT THEIR FOOD SUPPLY FOR MEALS FOR SHELTER RESIDENTS.
  • SEK WOMEN HELPING WOMEN: A FAIRY GODMOTHER’S FUND WILL PROVIDE ONE TIME GRANTS TO WOMEN IN NEED WHO WORK IN CARETAKING PROFESSIONS.
  • STILLWELL HERITAGE & EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION PLANS TO INITIATE A WALKING CHALLENGE FOR DOWNTOWN PITTSBURG RESIDENTS.
  • TRI VALLEY DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES WILL PURCHASE NEW CPR MANIKINS FOR STAFF AND CLIENT TRAINING.

Youth Activities

  • ARMA RECREATION WILL BE ADDING AN ELECTRONIC SCOREBOARD AT THE CITY BALLFIELD.
  • CHERRY STREET YOUTH CENTER IS DEVELOPING YEAR ROUND GREENHOUSE GARDENING.
  • CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER, INC. IS UPDATING ABUSE PREVENTION EDUCATION PROGRAM MATERIALS.
  • CITY OF GIRARD PLANS TO ADD EQUIPMENT FOR SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT TO THE CITY POOL.
  • CURIOUS MINDS DISCOVERY ZONE INC. WILL OFFER FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHTS TO SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE PARSONS AND SURROUNDIG AREA.
  • FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER IS ADDING 5 CAMERAS FOR INTRUDER SAFETY.
  • HORSES OF HOPE RIDING CENTER, INC. WILL BE PURCHASING SENSORY INTEGRATION AND COMMUNICATION TOOLS FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER CLIENTS AS PART OF THEIR TOUCH OF HOPE PROGRAM.
  • KIDS FIRST DAY CARE & PRESCHOOL IS REJUVENATING THEIR PLAYGROUND SPACE.
  • LEARNING TREE INSTITUTE AT GREENBUSH IS EXPANDING THEIR ADVENTURE BASED EDUCATION WITH INDOOR CHALLENGE EQUIPMENT.
  • MINERS HALL MUSEUM WILL BE UPGRADING THE MUSEUM TECHNOLOGY.
  • PITTSBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY WILL CONTINUE THE YOUNG AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR PROGRAM TO LOCAL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS.  
  • PSU NURSING WILL PROVIDE A NEONATAL PATIENT SIMULATOR TO NURSING STUDENTS.
  • RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AUTHORITY WILL UPGRADE COMPUTER EQUPMENT TO BETTER OFFER PROGRAMMING TO THE AT RISK YOUTH THEY SERVE.
  • SPECIAL OLYMPICS KANSAS (PITTSBURG AFFILIATE) WILL PURCHASE SUPPLIES FOR THE SOUTHEAST REGIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT.
  • USD 235 UNIONTOWN IS ADDING FLEXIBLE SEATING FOR THE SCIENCE CLASSROOM.
  • USD 246 WILL PURCHASE GOOGLE EXPEDITION KITS FOR VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS FOR ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS.
  • USD 246 WILL PROVIDE FLEXIBLE SEATING TO STUDENTS IN THE JUNIOR HIGH.
  • USD 249 FRONTENAC IS ADDING WHOLE-CLASS NOVELS AND BOOK CLUBS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL READING STUDENTS.
  • USD 506 WILL PURCHASE MINI I-PADS TO CREATE MAKERSPACE FOR PROJECT BASED LEARNING.
  • FORT SCOTT AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – THIS FOUNDATION IS AN AFFILIATE OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS.  THEY RECEIVED A GRANT TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR GRANTING PROGRAM PROVIDING MORE FOR YOUTH ORIENTED PROGRAMS FOR THE AREA THEY SERVE.  
  • GIRARD AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – THIS FOUNDATION IS AN AFFILIATE OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS.  THEY RECEIVED A GRANT TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR GRANTING PROGRAM PROVIDING MORE OF YOUTH ORIENTED PROGRAMS FOR THE AREA THEY SERVE.
