Community Foundation Ready to Accept Donations for 2014 Tornado Victims

Last updated August 2, 2021

The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas is committed to helping others and improving the quality of life in our region. Now more than ever the need is great and the Foundation is stepping up to assist donors with their gifts for our neighbors and friends who are storm victims.

While basic needs of shelter, clothing, and food are being met fairly quick; often donors are looking to place their dollars to not only help immediately but to fund the rebuilding efforts. This is particularly how the Foundation can help.

On April 27th storms devastated parts of Baxter Springs and nearly all of Quapaw, Oklahoma. The need to help is right here at home–helping victims in these areas who bore the brunt of the April 27th storms.

The Foundation recognizes that at this time there is a great need for money to help rebuild. The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas is the local leader in responding to disasters, both here at home and on the national level.

While there is a Disaster Relief Fund established at the Foundation ready to accept donations, it is also possible for groups to establish funds for specific projects in their hometowns of Baxter Springs and Quapaw.

All monies collected will go to appropriate relief agencies serving the area. Make checks payable to the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, 100 South Broadway, Suite 100, Pittsburg, Kansas, 66762.

Note that the gift is for the April 27th victims. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible, though contact your tax preparer for full explanation.

Contact the Foundation office for any questions regarding donations or establishing funds for specific needs in Baxter Springs or Quapaw.
