In 2006, the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas received a 3 year-$300,000 grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to improve nutrition and physical activity awareness in the southeast Kansas area. Local awareness efforts are combined with the state-wide public motivation campaign, “change something,” that was launched by KHF in September of 2006. According to Marni Vliet, president & CEO of KHF, ”The ‘change something’ campaign serves as a reminder that opportunities exist all around us to be more physically active and incorporate healthier eating habits. Simple, daily changes add up to healthier lifestyles and improve the health outlook for Kansans.” The Community Foundation is excited to be a part of this project.
